Focus on Glioblastoma

Bridging mathematics and biotechnology to decipher brain cancer

Project description

The SSF project ‘Focus on glioblastoma, is a cross-disciplinary project between five teams with expertise in brain tumor biology, systems biology, single cell methods, biostatistics and mathematics. Together, we aim to target the growth behavior of glioblastoma, the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer.

A key goal of the project is to develop systems biology approaches to solid tumors. Our hypothesis is that new biotechnological approaches, including single cell live imaging and profiling, will enable mathematical descriptions (models) of cancer. Such models, in turn, can be used to understand disease origins and facilitate drug development. The project started in August 2017 and is currently in a startup phase. Please check back soon.
